A Guide For Cleaning With Lemons: How To Do It?

I love using natural ingredients to clean my home – and lemon is my favourite to use. I prefer it over vinegar (which might shock you). If you are into cleaning with natural ingredients then you know that vinegar is the number one ingredient people use, however, I really hate the smell which is why I avoid using it.

How To Use Lemon When Cleaning?

– Remove Soap Scum

Start off with cutting a lemon in half then rub it over the soap scum. Rinse and repeat a few times until you are happy with the results.

– Clean Cutting Boards

Not a lot of people know this but you shouldn’t clean your cutting boards with only soapy water. You need to use something stronger so that you can get into the little cuts and really clean and disinfect the surface.

I use lemon to do this. I sprinkle a bit of salt all over the cutting board then I cut a lemon in half and rub the surface for a few minutes. Then, I rinse. I highly recommend using this method whenever you were cutting raw meat!

– Make An All-Purpose Cleaner

One of my favourite all-purpose cleaners contains lemon juice. Of course, I still add a bit of vinegar but the smell is concealed due to the lemon.

Mix half a cup of white vinegar with two cups of water and the juice of a lemon. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle.

– Clean Your Sink

I clean my sink similar to how I clean my cutting boards – with salt and lemon. I sprinkle salt all over my sink then I rub with half a lemon. Once I am done, I rinse and dry with paper towels.

– Make A Window Cleaner

As you can see, I use lemon to clean just about everything in my home – and my windows aren’t an exception.

I mix 4 cups of water with half a cup of white vinegar and 1/4 cup of lemon juice. Pour the liquid into a spray bottle and use it with a microfiber cloth for spotless windows!
